LESSON OF ENGLISH IN THE 7TH FORM (AUTHOR – T. KOZLOVSKA)
«SPORT IN THE LIFE OF PEOPLE»

Objectives:
-навчальна: to develop the creative way of thinking; to motivate students to study and understand English;
-розвивальна: to revise knowledge on topic ‘’Sports And Games’’; to improve communicative skills; to improve pupils’ reading, speaking and understanding skills;
-виховна: to teach students to be interested in sports.
Equipment: textbooks, copybooks, vocabularies, video, handouts.
PROCEDURE
І. GREETING. ANNOUNCING THE TOPIC AND THE AIMS OF THE LESSON.
Good morning, pupils! Sit down, please! How are you? Today we’re going to remember everything we’ve studied about sports, answer the questions on this topic, do some tasks in reading and work in groups. Let’s start!
II.WARMING-UP
- Answer the questions.
– What is your favorite school subject?
– What sports do you know?
– Do you like your lessons of Physical Education?
– Do you like sports?
-What kind of sports do you like?
-What do you prefer to do sports or to watch it on TV?
- Singing a song.
Pupils sing a song “Sport balls” with the video.
III. Checking home task.
Ex. 6, p. 132. Pupils read the text about golf with the filled in words.
- Ball; 2) ground; 3) hole to hole; 4) the player.
MAIN PART OF THE LESSON
І. REVISION OF LEXIS.
T. Dear, pupils! Now we will play the game! I hope you’ll like it. So, I have a magic box. This box has different words inside. You have to take out the picture and guess the sport or the equipment we need for it. Let’s go!
Pupils take out the pictures and write down the words on the blackboard.
ІІ. GRAMMAR.
T. Now we will remember some grammar rules. So, in what sentences do we use the pronoun “anybody”? When do we use “somebody”? Thank you for explaining the rules. We will see how you understood them. Who wants to read the first sentence?
Ex. 1, p. 135. Pupils choose the correct variant and read it.
1) Anybody; 2) anything; 3) anybody; 4) anything; 5) nothing.
ІІІ. WRITING.
T. You were great at the previous exercise! So, now let’s translate some sentences! We will do this exercise in written form.
Ex. 2, p. 135. Pupils translate the Ukrainian part of the lesson, read it and write down.
1) Isn’t she; 2) aren’t they; 3) isn’t it; 4) isn’t it; 5) aren’t they; 6) am I not; 7) isn’t it.
IV. LISTENING
T. Sport is very popular in Britain and now we will watch a video about it. Then we will divide into two teams and do one exercise.
Pre-listening
What sports do you think are popular in Britain? What British national sports do you know? So, let’s begin watching a video.
Listening
Pupils watch a video “Sports in Britain”.
Post-listening
Pupils divide into two teams. The team which will do the exercise first will win the game.

- St Andrew’s is in Ireland.

- Swimming is popular among children.

READING.
T. Now, we are going to read an interesting text about Olympic Games.
Ex. 3, p. 135. Pupils read the text about Olympic Games.
T. When I tell you the true sentence raise a green card and when I read a false one, raise a red card. Let’s go!
