Лінгвістичні ігри можна використовувати на уроці для активізації пізнавальної активності учнів та підвищення мотивації до вивчення англійської мови. Матеріал містить добірку таких ігор: Bingo, word search, create your own country, quiz, miming game, taboo- game, cross the river, word jumble тощо.
Language games
- Language game “Guess the country”
Guess the country from the letters:

- Game “Bingo “
Method:
- Print out different BINGO cards and put the squares with words into a hat or bowl.
- Hand out one Bingo card to each student (each card should be different).
- The caller should pull out one word , show and say it to the children.
- The children will cross out the words
- All words must be marked to get a BINGO and the student with that card calls out BINGO
Words for “Bingo” : Ukraine, France, Poland, the UK, the USA, Netherland, Canada, Scotland, Greece, Brazil, Italy, Turkey, Mexico, Australia, China, Portugal, Germany, Argentina, South Africa, Egypt, Japan.

Word search – nationalities
4.Create your own country- team work
Divide students into two teams. Give them a blank paper, colour paper, markers, scissors and glue. Students should discuss and then present their own imaginable country and say the name of the country, the president, language, the national symbols, currency etc and make a poster about their country.
5.Quiz about the countries:
- What country has a maple leaf on the national flag?
- What country was the first to land a man on the Moon?
- What country has the Great Barrier Reef?
- In what country was Nelson Mandela born?
- Adidas and Volkswagen are companies from this country.
- You can see the Great Pyramid of Giza in this country.
- The team from this country won football championship EURO 2012.
- What country has the largest population in the world?
- You can visit the cities Edinburgh and Glasgow in this country.
- The largest country in South America.

6.Game “ Cross the river”
Students should say the name of the country and nationality with each step. There are 17 rocks / steps on their way.
7.Miming game. Students have to show the animal without any words. One student shows, the rest should guess the word.
8.Taboo- game
A list of professions with the most typical words used to describe them which students are not allowed to use; a guessing game focused on speaking fluency in particular.
Cut out the cards and play a game with your students. You can play it in groups or pairs.
Place the cards in a pile face down. One student at a time picks a card, and describes the job given. He/ She can’t use any of the words from the card.
The student who guesses correctly is awarded points.

9.Word jumble activity
In the task the letters of the words are all mixed up. Students must figure out what the words are and write them on the blank lines provided under each picture

10.Word- search “ Jobs”
11.Language game” I spy with my little eye”.
Teacher gives students pictures with different objects and says,” I spy with my little eye something beginning with c” , and students have to find something with the first letter c , show the picture and say the word.
Game continues till the last letter of the alphabet.
12.Ball game
Student throws the ball and says the letter, other student catches the ball and answers the word which begins with this letter.
13.Snowball game- fruit and vegetables
Students repeat the previous words and add own words. The student who doesn’t remember all the words leaves the game.
14.Matching the parts of the sayings and proverbs.
The teacher gives the students parts of the sayings and proverbs which are cut into two pieces. Students should complete the whole sentences.
An apple a day……………………………………. keeps the doctor away.
An apple never ……………………………………..falls far from the tree.
Coffee should…………… be black as hell, strong as death, and sweet as love.
A tree is …………………………………………….known by its fruit.

Цікавий матеріал. Урізноманітнює та робить цікавою для учнів роботу навіть над країнознавчими темами. На базі цього матеріалу дуже вдало можна провести урок-вікторину, або командну гру. Полдальших вам творчих успіхів!

Спасибі за публікацію. Без мотивації – вивчення англійської нуднувате. Дуже часто вчитель відпрацьовуючи з учнями граматику, лексику, перевіряючи завчені тексти не встигає найголовніше – розрядити обстановку, зняти напругу в класі. Такі легкі, цікаві завдання завжди сприймаються “на ура” в аудиторії будь-якої вікової категорії
Коли читала цей матеріал подумала ,що гарно б було зробити якусь командну гру з використанням цих матеріалів. Ці матеріали надихають та спонукають до створення креативних уроків.
